SOS center 2.0: What's New?

A more detailed map, richer alert details and destination risk trends

Written by Hazem Emad

The SOS center has been redesigned to give SOS admins a clearer, more detailed picture of where travellers are and what is happening around them. The WorkFlex SOS mobile app also gets faster sign-in and offline access to trip documents. This article walks you through what's new.

You'll find the SOS center under SOS management in the main menu. If you don't see the new layout yet, contact your Customer Success Manager. For an introduction to the solution itself, see WorkFlex SOS.

Tracking: an interactive map

The Tracking view now shows an interactive map of your travellers:

  • Countries are coloured by their overall threat level, on a five-level scale from Low to Extreme.

  • Alert pins show where safety alerts are active.

  • Badges show how many travellers are in each country.

  • Filter the map by Levels, Category and Region, and use Map layers to show or hide people, incidents, country threat levels, and disputed and breakaway areas.

Click a country to open its Country Report, or click an alert pin to see which travellers are affected. To see what each pin means, click How to read the map (the question mark icon).

Travellers on the map

Hover over a traveller to see their trip details:

  • Request ID, trip type and travel dates.

  • Where this came from: whether the position is based on city-level or only country-level trip data, for example "City unavailable — showing country centre".

  • The threat level of their location.

Positions come from the trip itinerary, so you can locate travellers down to city level. A red outline on a traveller's pin means they are in a location rated High or Extreme, and a red dot means an active alert affects them.

Note: Exact location is never shown on the map. For data protection (GDPR) reasons, we reserve the right to make the map less granular in the future and to make more precise, GPS-based location available only through the traveller's own WorkFlex SOS mobile app.

Alerts on the map

Hover over an alert to see:

  • Its level and status.

  • When it was last updated, and by which intelligence provider (for example, Riskline).

  • Whether it affects any of your travellers.

  • Its impact radius (for example, about 8 km). The affected area is highlighted on the map while you hover.

  • A link to the full alert.

Safety alerts: clearer and easier to act on

  • Severity and status are now shown for every alert, with a detailed view for the full picture.

  • Restructured categories: filter alerts by seven categories (Security, Unrest & strikes, Natural hazards, Health, Travel & transport, Entry & visa, and Other), then narrow down further by more than 40 types of alerts, such as earthquakes, flooding, airspace, kidnap and ransom, or transport strikes.

  • Quick filters: switch between All, Active, Extreme, Affecting my travellers and Last 30 days.

  • More filters: show alerts that are Active, under Monitoring or Resolved, and filter by alert date, risk level and country.

  • Sorting: sort by country, by time, or by number of affected travellers.

Alert details

Open an alert to see what is happening and what to do, which provider verified it and when it was last updated, which travellers are near the affected area, and its Updates: follow-up alerts on the same event, so you can follow how a situation develops.

Destinations: every country at a glance

The Destinations table gives you a country-by-country overview: the risk level, active alerts and their highest severity, and how many travellers are on a trip now versus travelling soon. Quick filters show All countries, countries With my travellers, countries rated High and above, or countries With active alerts.

Click any country to open its full Country Risk Report:

  • The overall threat level, with a short explanation of what it means.

  • Active alerts and the travellers currently in the country.

  • Alert mix: which types of alerts were predominantly sent for this destination over the last 12 months, so you can spot trends. In the Philippines, for example, natural and environmental events and earthquakes make up the largest share of alerts, so you can expect these risks to occur again.

  • Full report: risk intelligence in eight categories (Terrorism, Crime, Politics, Conflict, Unrest, Natural hazards, Health and Travel), each with its own threat level and a written assessment, listed from highest to lowest.

Faster health & security briefings

New trips now appear in WorkFlex SOS as soon as they are approved. Personalised health & security briefings are therefore created almost instantly, instead of after a 30–60 minute delay.

What's new in the WorkFlex SOS mobile app

One-tap biometric sign-in

Travellers can sign back in with Face ID or fingerprint instead of typing their email and password. Once biometrics are set up, they can log in at any time, even after a session timeout, after signing out, or without a network connection.

Offline travel vault

Travellers who have enabled biometric sign-in can open critical trip documents, such as visas, passport copies, insurance certificates and country safety briefings, from the document center in the app without an internet connection. The files are stored on the device, so they stay available in airplane mode or with roaming switched off.

Note: Offline access currently covers upcoming and active trips only, not past trips.
